- “Pictures” by Turkey’s world-renowned pianist Fazıl Say has received the “Album Of The Month” award in France. The “Choc de Classic” prize, one of the most important classical music awards in Europe, was presented to the musician for “Pictures,” recorded in 2011.

The album, which has so far received positive reactions from European critics, includes three outstanding works: Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an exhibition,” Janacek’s “1 October 2005” and Prokofiev’s “Piano Sonata No: 7.”

Commenting on the album, critics say the artist has a “strong personality” and he has a striking and unique way of playing. While performing Mussorgsky, the Turkish pianist makes the work shine again in a thousand different colors. Prokofiev’s ‘Piano Sonata No: 7 becomes more violent with the artist performs it, while Janacek’s work is more sensitive when played by Say. His piano and his approach are unique, they said.

- 4 years after his latest solo recital, this is a much-awaited new project by Fazıl Say, one of the best-selling artists in Naïve roster over the past few years, whatever his field of activity – solo pianist, composer or in duet with Patricia Kopatchinskaja.

The 3 pieces featured here are 3 powerful and intense works composed between 1874 and 1942. They are frequently performed by Fazıl Say in concert and are among the pieces that inspire him much. They perfect fit Fazil’s unique vision of music and piano playing, his energy, sense of rhythm and amazing technics.

Don’t miss the final parts of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an exhibition and Prokofiev’s 7th sonata, they are breathtaking!

This project is built on both music and film. The set offers a studio recording on the CD and a live recording of the same program on the DVD. This is a complete vision of his links to music, recording sessions and live performance that Fazil intends to offer to his numerous supporters and fans.

The DVD also includes a 10’ bonus, Behind the scenes of the recording, which shows Fazil working during several recording sessions. It is very lively, entertaining and interesting.
